I upgraded my L925 few days ago. From 8.1. Without any issues. But few things doesn't work or works odd. Hard reset didn't help.

    Can you:
    1. Change "Rotation lock" tile to any other? I'd like to have Location in the lowest row.
    2. Display MSN Weather on lock screen and glance?
    3. Make new mail notifications to play a sound?
    4. Pin to Start "Add a new Note" OneNote tile? On 8.1 I had a tile with a "+" sign.
    5. Change default camera app?
    L925, latest build.
    1. Rotation Lock and Wifi, can't be switched to any other toggles. I had to play around eg pre-select a toggle and later switch it with the Rotation Lock or Wifi toggle.. but both can't be switched independently. It crashes straight to the home screen. Weird.
    2. Works fine for me.
    3. Ditto.
    4. Haven't done that.
    5. Works fine for me.

I am using Lumia 730 and running at latest build. Installed the windows 10 build 15 days before, find out few bugs. First the Cortana live tile stop working after few hours. Once you open the cortana, it starts working. It seems the background process is not running properly. I need to refresh to by opening to get the Live tile working and the same goes weather live tile. However, some of the live tiles are working properly. Done hard reset and soft reset many times. The navigation bar is also defective, when you hide the bar at start screen it shows the reflection of the background image when you swipe up to hide up. It show up for a very short second. It happens every time. Lock screen has also a bug, whenever i unlock the phone after a long time it fluctuates. I add the weather to show the updates and never come up until I open the weather app and after few hours the status of weather on lock screen goes off. It seems I need to refresh everything in a regular time interval. Waiting for the official upgrade. Also, If anyone know, let me know, how to install if the official windows 10 mobile comes up on the insider running windows 10. My windows device recovery tool is not installing getting error. I would not be able to roll back. Your help will be appreciated.

Battery life on 10586.29 on lumia 1020: while using whatsapp on 2G network for 15 minutes, just typing, no pictures or videos or audio, battery dropped from 80% to 62%, a drop of 18%

While using wifi to update here maps, maps, check 6tag, check whatsapp and 3 email accounts, battery dropped from 45% to 25% in 17 minutes

So whether it's cellular or wifi, battery life takes a big hit.

    Waiting for the next build

IMHO The last Whatsapp version is the guilty. I notice more draining after its update, when chatting battery goes fast down like never before. Not happening when using Microsoft Messages.
That's remeber me the famous Facebook beta battery bug

Yes. The latest Whatsapp is the culprit. I was surprised to see the battery usage of the latest whatsapp compared to prev version.

    1. Just the same. It's weird. Looks like a bug.
    2. I don't have the MSN Weather on the list of applications in Lock Screen settings. And there is no possibility to reinstall the MSN Weather app, because I can't uninstall it. Strange.
    3. Now I see, default configuration is strange, but after some reconfiguration it works fine.
    4. OK.
    5. OK, now I get it. Some apps went away during upgrade and I didn't notice it.

So I have to find a way to display MSN Weather on the Lock Screen and things will be fine.

That's a minor random store iussue, it resolves by itself in 3 / 4 days, it doesn't affect your phone performances

I dived head-first into this Windows Phone world, in October 2014. I have used various models on and off during the last year, and back in May I made the 640 XL my "daily driver", as some call it, and have had it that way up until now, and continue to do so. Well, I've had a LOT of time to assess the world of Windows Phone, and please allow me to make a balanced judgement, after having bought & used each of the following models, from new:

    ~ 630
    ~ 635
    ~ 735
    ~ 640
    ~ 640 XL

    I love:

    ~ Cortana
~ The SUPERB battery life of the 640/640 XL
~ Camera app, and how nearly everything has a manual control
    ~ The keyboard
~ The minimal (8.1/8.1 GDR2) look and clean cut look which it has on the eye.
~ exFAT filesystem and the ability to record HUGE 1080p videos (1+ hr, 9-12GB or more)

    What really annoys me:

~ The sheer ineptitude of Microsoft and/or FaceBook to create an app which works and uploads photos and videos without having to babysit it, knowing it will fail 99% of attempts (which it will, GUARANTEED).
~ The bizarre situation which means WhatsApp is unable to transcode longer videos into equally long but lesser quality videos, as iOS and Android allow, when sending them. What's THAT about?
    ~ "Loading . . . . . Loading . . . . ." (what, with ONE GIGABYTE OF RAM?!)
~ Camera app often decides to spend 5-15 mins WITHOUT button overlays, just teasing me with a camera preview but NO WAY of capturing.
~ How long the gallery takes to rebuild the image cache, and sometimes it arbitrarily decides to start doing that all over again, for no reason.
~ The lack of a native, reliable and UI consistent YouTube app (and I know this is not entirely Microsoft's fault.)
~ Various other relatively workable but niggling inconsistenties.

I couldn't care less about the "app gap" - I use a phone for life, not for squandering my waking hours chasing baddies or driving a CGI car - that's just not me, I'd rather be spewing out tens of thousands of photos - I am a CREATOR more than a consumer of "content" (ugh, that word!).

I am thinking about selling up my 640 XL and going back to the Moto G, the current iteration of which has stellar reviews. I've owned 3 or 4 of the Moto G models from 1st gen XT1032 up to the 2nd gen dual SIM, and they are superb, apart from the fact that the camera was pretty poor on them up until the 3rd gen which now has "dual tone" flash and 13MP main/5MP front cameras. I also have had a Vodafone (ZTE) "Smart Ultra 6" for the last 4 months, in parallel to my Lumia, which I use as a commander for my Roku and for beaming YouTube to Roku with/using it as a mini tablet, but I'd sell up both it and 640 XL in a heartbeat to go back to the Moto G.

By NO means is it as simple and black and white as "loving" or "hating" the Windows Phone experience - there's SO much to like, but the disappointment factor and the lack in so, so many areas just hangs around like a shadow which won't go away, and I feel Microsoft are continually treading quicksand in their attempt to force Windows Phone into the mainstream (unlike on PC, where it's superb!), and I don't have much confidence in the integrity of their decisions or where this is all going.

I am considering Moto G 3rd gen as I've had so many good months (almost a year!) with Moto G, and sadly for Microsoft, the negatives of this flailing platform kinda outweigh the positives, no matter how good those positives are, Microsoft just seem to be treading water. I'm pretty sure my mind is made up now; it's not as if I haven't given Windows Phone so much of a chance in my life + the other months on the previous devices - it just isn't a solid, workable platform, and no amount of gimmicks like "Continuum dock" and other piffle is going to persuade me, or many others, to keep persisting.

I wanted to love you, but there's so many silly things which you NEVER ADDRESS, I think I am leaving now.

i got the similar feeling about windows phone (640xl is my first ever wp). especially these days all MS apps on android and ios runs much better ( better function and user interface) than Microsoft's own phone. not mention about other apps. but i am planning to hang on for a little bit longer till MS officially lunched the Windows 10 Phone. from then, i will decide if i am going to keep my 640xl or not.....i am not sure how Microsoft can bring people to write apps for a phone with about only 2% market share.......i am just hopping something may happen....

Yes,, in Australia, W10p has about 5% market share........the new win10p has much better interface and functionality than the w8.1p. and with lots of upgrade for all the MS apps which i like very much. but those existing 3rd party apps dont get upgraded for long time ...... the google search is very old, and bing/cortana search does not get the right answers i want......at least in australia, the google search provides much relevant results compare to what bing does. and somehow, Microsoft removed google search from the edge........which make the browser's search function useless.....

Wow. The initial post is "Lumia 640 XL updating as I speak. Thank you, Gabe and Co."+a screenshot. I said off topic about all the moving away from W10M/WP (which I respect), ie the 2-3 last messages, not about the bugs report, etc. and appreciating (positively or not) the .29 build.

Nevermind, and as I said, now we have 10586.36. Tested on 535, it feels faster (really) than .29
