That is a MAJOR bummer for me. It hogs precious space and blocks certain elements in apps.

Maybe I am doing something wrong but even in build 586 it doesnt hide. Especially in games. Therefore the touch is shifted and doesnt react at exact spot, it reacts few milimeters away. (lumia 535)

It can be hidden is most Microsoft first party apps, especially what "ships" with Windows 10.

All 3rd party apps that haven't been specifically re-written for Windows 10 will not be able to hide it. They have to include code to do the hiding. I think putting it on each individual developer is a bad thing to do. MS needs to fix it in the OS, period. My 2 cents.

This is soo much crap! Is should be OS defined! I like how it was on WP 8.1 where you could hide ALWAYS! So much for "Soft buttons" being better. This just makes is suck all the way Android style! This was the ONLY reason why I rooted my Sony Z3 to be able to hide the soft buttons.

    Nice 1 MS another FAIL!

What are you guys talking about, the bar can be hidden. It hides in games and universal apps on Windows 10. Maybe it's because I'm using a 735 and you're using a 535

It hides on my 950, except it seems windows phone 8 apps.

I don't think MS should do anything special for these apps, I think they should update their apps to Windows 10... Looking at you Windows Central.

It can't be hidden in wp8(.1) apps and games. In games I still have black bar and touch is shifted. Tested on several games including defense zone 2, hitman go, physibricks and others. It can be hidden in w10 optimized apps and games.

I am using a Lumia 950 and cannot get the nav bar to hide when using my Kindle app or the PDF add "Reader". This is a major annoyance especially for reading apps. Swiping does not work. The bar does hide with other apps. Any ideas what to do? Thanks

No that is not true. Navigation bar can not be hidden in most of apps. I am too using 730 and when i upgraded to windows 10 then things started slowly and the major problem was navigation bar which we could not hide in most of apps like in games, media player (third party). I mean if navigation bar is working properly in windows 8.1 then why it's not working in windows 10 properly and most of it microsoft dev team have not provided a little down arrow to hide navigation as they did in windows 8.1.

No Windows developer team must create code for this to hide navigation bar in windows 10 mobile version. Not every third party app will create code for this so Microsoft Windows 10 mobile developer team should make universal code for this so that no matter what app you are running, it should facilitate the user to hide or show the navigation bar.

But we need for all apps not "most of the apps". Windows 10 mobile developer team should look after this matter.

It's not a Windows iussue, single app developers should implement new APIs for that. All Windows apps got that, 3rd party still not at all

The on-screen navigation bar can be hidden in every single app. The app resizing accordingly to hide the black space is a completely different thing and developers must deal with it.
This thread is now completely useless since its title is not true
