Hi,
new to the WM10 is a device encrytion/bitlocker funktion in the settings menue. I switched it on for my L520 to see what it will do. First i had to soft reset the device after taking 2 photos because it was not working anymore. After that i did not see any differences.
Can anyone explain what this function really does? What is encrypted and where is the key stored? What happens if i do a hard reset? Are there any problems to be expected? I remeber in WM8 there was a bug for the bitlocker function for updating the devices but at that time bitlocker was only available for business custumers so i was not using it.
A tutorial in this would be nice.

Hi,
seems like nothing is encrypted at all. I can read data from the SD card in a card reader, even when the encryption is turned on. I have checked this with taking fotos while this encryption function was turned on. Hope this will get fixed in the final release.

It encrypts the phone's internal memory, not the SD card.
You wont notice a major difference.

Encrypting the phone makes accessing the information without the key difficult or impossible. (which is the PIN?)

If you hard reset the phone is erased, nothing new.

The encryption upgrade bug was a one time thing.
