Lumia 640 can't update from Build 10166

Hi guys. I just got a 640 and decided to try out the insider preview since I've read the new 10586 is quite smooth and capable as a daily driver. I am now on 10166 which is perhaps ancient and trying to update from that. Windows Insider says the update is available but when I go to Phone Update it just says the phone's up to date. What should I do now? Do I have to do a hard reset?

U have to go back to 8.1 then update

Thanks for the reply! How do I do that? Please don't mind my noobie questions. Have had a 521 for over a year but never dug deeper into the system and stuff.

U can download recovery tool from Microsoft dunno what the exact name is

Are you on fast ring or slow ring? Maybe fire up Windows Insider and click on Fast Ring again...
