App switcher/multitasking issues

I have had my Lumia 950 XL for almost two months now and i have encountered my first major issue.

When i press and hold the back button the app switcher/multitasking feature does not appear at all.

I am not able to close the running apps and it is very annoying. I have reset my phone and i have also performed a soft reset (power + volume down buttons).

The back button works when i just press it. I have turned on the vibration too and it works the issue seems to be only with app switcher.

I do not want to perform a full reset, but maybe that will need to happen .

Has anyone encountered this sort of issue ?

Have had the same issue for a few weeks now on my Lumia 640. It worked for a few days after i updated from WP 8.1, after which it just stopped working.
It's annoying but I'd rather not do a full reset at the moment.

Reflash the os with the recovery tool. Anyway you will never be able to close running apps in background, because they don't run in backgroud
