You can try asking cortana to open that app. To make it more useful like auto navigate with it, I think its Cortana integration in the app by developer.

I asked this question a while back and didn't get an answer. I know in 8.1 we used to be able to choose default programs. But I don't see that option in 10 yet so I've accepted the fact that I'll just have to use the built-in navigation even though I'm not a fan.

If you find anything different please let us know!

I prefer using Waze so instead of asking Cortana to "Take me home" I turn on Waze. I am still looking for how to set Waze as the default Navigation app. as I was able to on my Lumia 820 (Windows 8.1).

has your opinion of the maps app changed? It's been 3 months, right?

Sorry I didn't respond sooner as I didn't realize this thread had popped back up again.

To answer your question - no in fact the navigation on the phone has almost caused me to consider getting rid of it. :(

We've been taking a few road trips this summer and I generally try to use my phone for navigation. In two cases now it has led me through routes that are out of the way and even last weekend had me doing two or three U-turns in order to get on to a highway when there was a direct route there.

Then a couple of other times the map view of the GPS froze while the audio updates continued. So I would look at the screen assuming my GPS was not working but eventually the audio would chime in and tell me what to do next.

It has caused frustration and delay to the point where my wife told me she's ready to throw my phone out of the window next time I try to use it. Now I can probably try to re-enable AT&T's navigator as I never had an issue with it but when I want to speak my request to Cortana it's still going to load the default navigation so it's almost not worth it.

Not sure what to do now as navigation is a key part of owning my phone. We had to resort to using her iPhone 5c directions that she would read off the screen to find our way. Frustrating to say the least!

I don't use voice navigation as I usually find the route, study it and then start walking or getting public transport that takes me approximately on the same route. I'll be foolish to trust any of the actual walking directions that maps gives me since it doesn't understand what walking actually is. It can give me a route that is 15km long when the place I want to go is just 2km away.

I know driving is much more tricky as you are speeding along and you need to respond quickly. The only suggestion I have is to study the route well before making the trip. Map improvements are slow for windows 10 mobile, nothing we can do to speed things up.

If it was a question about missing places on maps or wrong info, I could help out there

Your suggestion about planning a trip is generally what we do and is a valid workaround but then I'm forced to again work around the limitations of my device when it should be there for this convenience.

If I could just integrate the AT&T Navigator app into Cortana like I used to be able to in 8.1 then I would be ok but there are some pretty big flaws in Windows Maps right now unfortunately.
