Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

The 920, 1020 and 1320 shocks me. They have more than ample specs to run Windows 10 it seems like. Granted they are approx 3-4 years old, but still. =( The Alcatel is a wonderful phone you guys. Look into it ($150 off contract on T-Mobile, otherwise its like $8 a month I think on top of your bill).

1320 is just 2 years old.

As an app developer, I have two choices: stay WP 8 compatible, therefore have a larger user base but miss all the cool stuff of Win 10 universal apps (and become outdated). Or move to Win 10 and lose what, 50%? of my userbase and potential revenue? With the single digit market share of Windows Phone/Windows Mobile, either is not very attractive...

I think you're one of the few that gets it. It's about future app dev support going forward. Nobody in the comments sections with their 'oh, not a big deal' comments seems to understand.

With the amount of the user base left behind, this is just as much, if not a bigger break than WP7.5 > WP8.

Unlike Android and iOS, W10 mobile universal apps are not compatible with older versions of the OS, so comparing it to the non-updates of Android devices is irrelevant. Even Gingerbread Android devices can run most new applications.

Didn't they swear the last time they did this with Windows phone 7 not getting an upgrade that it would be the last time?

guess they forgot about that.

I mean, I get it - you don't want to put out something that is going to suck - but then by that measure they need to offer something of equal specs that you can upgrade to.

..don't see another 40mpixel camera on their roadmap .. Do you?

I have a 950 for my main phone. But I still use my 1020 with windows 8.1 for my camera.
Yeah. Looks like I'm keeping my 1020 on 8.1 with the camera grip and Oggl on it .. That actually makes a pretty good 'hipster' camera actually

I'm switching to android at least for few months. My plan is to get a Mi5 when launched in India and start using it for few months until MS releases w10m ROM. Well... if MS doesn't release one, hope you know I'll be a loyal android user!!

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

I am very sad. My Lumia 525 will never get the windows 10 mobile update. Now I am thinking to switch to android or IOS . Because wp8.1 will never receive any app updates from Microsoft. So my phone is turning out to be a simplest phone. So that's the best time to leave the windows phone os . Microsoft never care about their own mobile platform's consumers that's why they have only 1.4% market share.
It's hard to say but Goodbye to windows phone and thanks to Microsoft for supporting me more than 1 year .

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

will it be any 10586? How do you know ?

The TH2 Branch is 10586. This will continue to get builds untill Redstone becomes the Production build, and that will happen around June (if it will not be delayed). So it is impossible to think that there will be no more 10586 builds untill June since there are still bugs to squash and performance to be improved.
Also 10586 is the official Windows 10 build for any mobile device (including x50's) so it will continue to receive builds untill Redstone is RTM.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

same sad story as it was with windows phone 7 to windows phone 8 ((

The technical reasons behind both instances may be different, but the end result, once again halving (this time more than half) your entire user base, with apps that will never get updated and end of support, is the same.
