Of you have a 1320, I encourage you to install build.164, without doing a HardReset the performance is perfect.

The Verge headline says all w8 phones will be upgraded to w10. The tweet states "we plan....."

There is a huge difference between we plan and we will. Ok, I only have a 925 and it has worked on w10 from day 1, and I am sorry that it will not be upgraded any further, but it has had w10 for over a year.

Moving on.

@13:50 they say "we will".

My 925 is probably better off with 8.1, but the store will start dying as apps move to uwp and become Windows 10 only (as it happened with the WP7 store).

Worse is, they lost their credibility, it'll be hard for me to trust/believe any future statement they make...

I watched that 13:50 mark several times. The presenter stated "we will make AVILABLE a free upgrade to Windows 10", not we will make absolutely sure Win10M works and installs on all devices running Windows 7/8 and Win Phone 8.1 without problems and it'll runs blazing faster besterest thing since sliced bread. That's just peeps assuming and hear and understanding what they want to be told.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

Just to know if I understand correctly:
The listed phones in the blog article receive official W10M today, and will get redstone insider updates and after release official redstone updates. All phones which are not on the list will stay officially on W8.1 and if they use the insider preview, they get W10M with build 102586.164 and updates for this build (102586.XXX) until redstone is released.

Is this correct?
If so, could it be possible to get somehow unofficial redstone builds for this phone?

For the ones interested:
I found a way to get redstone on unsupported devices. So every Insider who feels betrayed by MS can stop feeling betrayed ;)
It's a german site, but with the new translator extension for edge this shouldn't be a problem.

#weallarelumia1020. Discrimination. Inequality. I cannot believe that we have waited so much for an update and suddenly we are not going to receive it. With the excuse that insiders said that it had performance issues. They probably said it for it to be fixed not to be eliminated from the list of phones who are going to be updated. A company as prestigious as Microsoft could not make any better?. Suddenly we will be penalized for choosing these cell phones models? It is so disappointing that we patiently waited all of these release date changes to find out we are completely excluded.

Please provide a translation.

Of course, the Edge Translator Extension does not want to install [or work.]

Thanks.

Microsoft can pull the strangest things sometimes. This reminds me of the Onedrive free storage fiasco and the effort to take back storage they promised from their consumers. Here's hoping they backtrack a little for the sake of keeping their OS ecosystem unfragmented (the whole point of the Windows 10 push, no?), and use the low-end devices as a drive to keep performance improvements at the forefront of development.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

They could make it work, we see 520s running well on it. And you do get windows 10 as promised, just won't get redstone or anything else. So technically it extends the lifespan of your device for a bit there. A device that is already old. This was planned in a way. New features will be coming in Redstone. Old devices will not be able to use them anyways. Why go through all the issues this could cause when instead you can drop them and not have to worry about constantly updating code for extremely old devices when windows 10 is meant for the future.

And here's the kicker. MS already knew how much percentage will drop. They still took the risk because Redstone is far too big to care about that percentage. It's a completely new market for new people to jump in on. Not even steal market share from competitors but build a new category that will be part of future market share reports. Just like they did with the surface line. The re-invention is not hardware, it's software. They don't do hardware. They just show off their own hardware they make but would prefer OEMs to do the brunt work. And that's how it is in the PC industry. This is how the 2-in-1 laptops are selling and that's how the 2-in-1 phones will be selling. And the market share will be up for grabs for any OEMs. MS isn't trying to steal that share. So they don't care if the phone shares get obliterated. They are just phones...

And I should mention. The software is designed to adapt to any hardware. The feature set that they include is what will open up OEMs to any sort of devices they wish. They don't even have to be phones, they can be ar units, video game consoles. Anything.

MS is essentially introducing a new battleground for OEMs to gain market share in.

You're buying into the marketing.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020 owners

1320 most certainly has a SD400 processor. One of the few phones to carry the Krait cored SD400 - it was mighty but inefficient compared to the later A7 cored SD400.

but its dual core,,not quad core.
and MS is offering w10m to quad core processors only(with 1GB ram)..what can we do.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020 owners

Lumia 1320 does have a snapdragon 400 cpu. I own the lumia 1320 and i know what i'm talking about. Lumia 1320 was released on october 2013.But your talking doesn't really help the device to get the windows 10 update!

plz get to understand what i'm saying..
its not the same SD400...it early processor dual core clocked @1.7Ghz....
you can check the specs anywhere..

The Lumia 435 is a dual core device, they're limiting this rollout based on the feedback people have given, not entirely because of the specs alone. I assume they want to stop wasting money refining W10M to work better on these excluded phones, even though it would benefit the entire platform.

If they can't optimize the photo app to not stutter and lag when pinching and zooming on a 1.3ghz quad core 735 (when it worked perfectly on a duel core 1ghz 620 in WP8) there's still a ton of work to do.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

I am currently installing Windows 10 Mobile (Slow Ring preview) in my Nokia Lumia 920.

I didn't do a back up because there is no much data on it (I lost my phone awhile ago so I did a hard reset but I got it back, thanks to the taxi driver who have found it.)

Anyways, I hope I will not regret this. Hahaha!

PS: Too bad, I will never get the official upgrade.
