I have old MSN Health app and new Microsoft Health installed side by side. In MSN Health, for 8708 steps Calories burned are 325 (which seems genuine). But for same steps Calories burned in Microsoft Health are 2173. Why so much difference? Please find the attached screen-shots for your reference.

Are you taking it that the app says in general you have 8708 steps and have burned 2173 for the day or did you do the run mode?
MS Health includes your basal metabolic rate so if you're looking at the daily total, you see your total calories burned for the day, not just from walking.
Now if you were going based on using the run app on the band then that is probably wrong...

I'm pretty sure that's the answer right there. MS Health is estimating your basal caloric expenditure even when you're sitting watching TV. As it counts your steps, it adds that activity to the total.

I don't use any bands, but the estimates of overall caloric expenditure seem reasonable to me.

I didn't observe that. MSN Health records only activity based calorie burns. Thanks for the clarification.
