just a quick question . Is there a difference with how windows 10 works on a phone upgraded from 8.1 compared to a phone that came with it as standard???

Biggest difference is older phones likely have older hardware than the latest phones and so older phones will be slower because of that. But with same hardware they should perform similar after an upgrade, particularly if you do a 'hard reset' after the OS upgrades so you really do get a clean install.

OK , just asked cos my old 930 is a bit knackered now. So if I bought a 650 it wouldn't run any better???? For example Spotify is really crap but I think it may be a Spotify issue....

Remember that factory resetting a phone may help and I would do that before considering a replacement.
