After the most recent update, every time I restart my Lumia 640 a banner notification pops up saying 'Welcome to Messaging+, the best way to share photos...'

Anyone else having this issue or know how to turn it off?

I've had that as well but just goes away. Never noticed anything different.

Yes it goes away, but it's annoying as every time the phone is switched on, after 10 seconds or so the notification pops up and the phone vibrates which gets my attention as I don't know if it's an email/message or other notification. There doesn't appear to be a way to switch it off, as I can't find 'Messaging+' in any of the settings.

There is {49FE2D37-E6E7-427A-8552-35A874FE6FC8} in notifications and actions, which I think is messaging+ so might try turning banners off for that. Something's clearly broken though when it updated.

I have. Sometimes after reboot the Speaker + notification sound volume has even turned itself up to almost max. level 9(/10) and phone makes very annoying loud sound even though I myself had the volume adjusted to 2(/10) before restarting.

Yes, that is the same thing I did. I also have two more apps displaying as product ids, the "mail and calendar" and "touch". Don't have a problem with the apps but it is annoying to see it.

I have this on my 625 and 930 after fresh boot with 15063.251 and 15210 (feature2) respectively

My 950XL with 15062.251 does NOT have this message.

Updating to 15063.297 didn't fix the "feature", at least not for me (Lumia 640).

Nothing? It's not supported anymore... I left my 520 as a windows 8.1 music player for my kids and to remember what 8.1 was like haha

There are ways if he wants to put w10m on it. Performance of w10m on Lumia 520 are another issue. He can try. But wp8.1 ain't bad either.

There is no "conversation" in the text messaging app.

See the icon. If it were a text message then the notification icon would have been of the text message icon.

However, when I checked notifications and actions settings, I found theses.

One is Messaging+ and another is Gestures Beta. I only have two, and I've turned them both off.

I thought about doing a hard reset to get rid of them, but I suspect it will be back. Could anyone confirm otherwise?

I didn't check for those unknown apps before but my 930 and 625 were both recently reset and I don't see those unknown apps right now

I've noticed this app number behavior before when I first upgraded to windows 10 and after feature updates like creators on my Lumia 640 (non insider). I "got rid of it" by clean resetting but now they are back:

    wp_ss_20170515_0001.png

I also get the annoying messaging thing. I assume one of those top two entries is the messaging. Not sure what the other one is.

Rereading the thread, it seems they are messaging plus and gestures beta. I guess I will turn them off for now.

Appologies I presumed everyone was aware about the tap and hold functionality in the text messaging app. Should have specified :) that you can tap and hold a text to mute it - in previous builds for me it was called "mute conversations".

It's not about receiving notifications for new messages.
    There are no new messages.
The notification simply used to popup.
Now with the recent update, it's gone.

I do not know how else to explain that it is not related to SMS or the default Messaging app.

So you were better of opening a new thread as your issue is totally different from the op .

I do not know what to say to that
I do not know how more specific I could be. (Post #13)

So you were better of opening a new thread as your issue is totally different from the op .
What made you draw that conclusion ?
I was having the same issue as OP, hence the screenshot.
It is an app notification, like a welcome message. Not a SMS conversation thread inside the Messaging app. No SMS was involved in the first place.

Please do check this post #13 from this thread !
