Never tried to upgrade before, and today I got a message that Windows 10 is not available for my Lumia 435

After I got that screen, I reset the phone to rule out lack of space, but still no luck. I didn't insert any SD card

Is your 435 locked to a particular network? Or is it an unlocked variant?

You have to do it using the Windows Upgrade Advisor app. I did mine about a year ago using this method and it's been fine since.

    **edit

Just noticed your screenshot and it looks like that's how you were already trying to upgrade?
Weird if it's not working that way

    Locked to T-Mobile

But in the past with other locked phone I had (different carrier), I got a message stating that I had to wait for the carrier's update, but no such message in this case

This is very odd. In this case, I think T-Mobile decided not to approve the update.

There are issues to upgrading to Windows 10 on a locked Lumia 435. But there still is a way! You can ask for help if you don't understand any of the steps:

    Method 1:
Unlock your device! Check this website to know how to carrier unlock your device: How to Carrier Unlock Microsoft Lumia 435 by Code | Codes2unlock Blog

Now you should be able to get the update, if it doesn't go for method 2.

    OR

    Method 2:
(Warning: This is a risky process and I not responsible for any mistakes you make)

Step 1: Install vcREG.xap. You can get it on the internet. (If you don't know how to install, don't proceed! Instead do some more research before going on)

Step 2: Open vcREG on your phone and hit Live/Cap unlock. Restart your phone. (Do a bit of research on how to do it)

Step 3: Check Full FS access. Connect to a computer via USB.

Step 4 and onwards: Do exactly what is said in this website from Step 4 (Donot do Step 1 - 3, as they are for other phones) https://www.techmesto.com/install-wi...orted-devices/

The second method should work, because it does on my Lumia 625. Do ask if you need help. Best of Luck!
