Any chance Windows Central can get any inside info from Facebook about dropping support or not for W10M? It's the 8th month with no update for their apps while they continue support for WhatsApp and Instagram, and in the meantime they have made their PC apps scale and work to mobile sizes, but not universal.
What's going on at Facebook and why aren't they confirming or not W10M support? It's getting ridiculous.
I don't see why they'd make their apps scale if they weren't converting to UWP. Can anyone answer that - why would they make them scale down to small sizes if it weren't a conversion?
Scaling to different sizes is UWP 101.
My theory is they have just one guy on it, lol. Converting a centennial to a UWP means changing a lot of the API calls. It could be done quite quickly with a big team, but if its a low priority job, it could take a long time.
I think if this was the case, it would also explain why there is no work on the old mobile app.
It's often quite invisible the change. A good example is the "GO" series of games. Originally on windows, they were released both as Silverlight (xap), and as win32 games (via steam etc). Now, you'll see they are all entirely UWP (appx).
That happened somewhat recently, around the release of Deus EX GO. But it was never announced, the plan to convert them was never announced, and none of it is particularly visable to the user - they just see a single download option for PC and mobile, and that's it. But if you look, you will see there are .exes, .xaps AND .appx's for the first two games.
So if this is facebooks plan, they'll probably never tell us.
