insider program same for phones and pc ???

i hear that insider program is same for phones and pc's too, i recently bought a new laptop. it has 8.1 pre installed, i dont want unpolished software on it. whereas my 520 is almost 2 years old ie perfect for testing ,so if i join insiders program will i have to download it on my pc also ?? pls help

No. Its the same program in terms of signing up, but you choose what to install it on.

I probably will give 10 a go on my 920, depending on how baked it is, but 10 is not touching any of my PCs for the time being.

Nope, you still have a choice. You can subscribe to insider program and not install preview software. You actually have to take a few steps (like download a separate tool) to install it on a desktop PC.
