Windows 10 build 10074 restarts soon after connecting to VPN

I am facing this issue on build 10074 running on Lenovo x220. Everything runs fine, but as soon as I connect to VPN, a dialog box is displayed which says "your system will restart in 1 min" and the machine restarts.

I checked the logs in eventvwr and it seems the issue is with the process lsass.exe and module kerberos.dll.

"A critical system process, C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code 255. The machine must now be restarted."

Faulting application name: lsass.exe, version: 10.0.10074.0, time stamp: 0x553acef7
Faulting module name: kerberos.DLL, version: 10.0.10074.0, time stamp: 0x553ad1f6
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000000058fb3
Faulting process id: 0x2cc

Is anyone else seeing this issue? I tried searching online and tried a few workarounds that were suggested for Win7 and Win8 but those don't work.

It might help if you could give more details as to how you are connecting to VPN?

Are you using the Windows client, OpenVPN etc?

I use the Viscosity VPN client and with each new build I have to remove all previous virtual adapters and fiddle about until I can connect, but using the OpenVPN GUI I can get straight on. The OpenVPN GUI will not automatically reconnect though so the Viscosity client is worth the hassle of installing.
