I want to create a local account without or with a simple password. However, that doesn't seem to be available on Windows 10.
Am I wrong in this or is there really no way to create just a local guest account?

Weird.. I created a UA previously using CP, but that was the previous build lol.. Ok next suggestion (pretty sure this one still works xd): create a guest account using cmd :D

I just did it from the settings app in 10240. Here are the steps to create a new local account.

  1. Select "Accounts" in the Settings app
  2. Select "Family & other users"
  3. Under the heading Other users select "Add someone else to this PC" (don't select "Add a family member" - families require Microsoft accounts)
  4. Select the link at the bottom "The person I want to add doesn't have an email address"
  5. Select the link "Add a user without a Microsoft account"
  6. Enter a username and password (optional)

*Interestingly the built in Guest account still exists disabled by default, but there is no friendly setting to turn it on anymore. If you want to use that instead of creating a new local account use the Computer Management console.
