So it begins,
The windows 10 upgrade session. Goodbye old windows 8.1 (and the horizontal scrolling start with forced full screen apps)

Me too. I am Windows Insider, did install Win10 Preview but then re-installed Win8. Not sure if I'm still regarded as an "insider" :p

If your W10 update is not downloading make sure your automatic update is turned on ... any other option and it will not download ... just now changed the option and it started downloading.

Yes, the Win10 downloads seems not working if automatic update is disabled in Windows Update.

I was not aware of this. I did not regard Win10 update as a usual "Windows update" because it is a big version jump.

I'm afraid that there are many users, especially those average users, who are waiting for Win10 update forever just because they have not enabled automatic update in Windows 10.

When I opened insiderdotwindowsdotcom and clicked on Get Windows 10, it took me to a page where there's a tool that upgrades or downloads windows 10 iso. Not sure this is only for insiders or everyone
I'm currently using build 10240

Update: It downloaded 3.10 GB iso (x64)

Can I ask, I left my laptop running all night, got up this morning and looked at update history and I get.

I found this too. I am also an insider, but I am running this on W8.1. Currently downloading W10Pro iso.

I had a couple of Windows update failed in my update log before 12:00 AM and one after. It is now 1:00 AM and I clicked the windows icon on the tool bar and the reservation window opened only this time it said something like "it's here". I clicked on install and it started the install process. I think there was another message on the same screen before where it said they were validating my PC and they would notify me when ready. It eventually rebooted and is doing "Configuring update for Windows 10". I expect it will go to the black screen with the status ring next.

It just rebooted and went to the black screen with the "Updating Windows" ring with the normal percentage update.

The computer is a Nextbook Flexx 11.6 2-in-1 tablet that I'm using as my first Windows 10 test. I have Insider Windows 10 that I've been running and testing for the last few months on another machine. I have two other Windows 8.1 and one Windows 7 to update after I see how it goes with the Nextbook.

I've downloaded but went with upgrade instead of ISO and now downloading W10 in progress...

Did your upgrade finish? Mine has been stuck on 24% overall
