What is C:\$Windows.~WS on my new 10 install?

what is C:\$Windows.~WS on my new 10 install

I upgraded my 2 in 1 to 10 and deleted my former OS to clean up some space, but am left with this folder at roughly 2 and a half gigs. Anyone know what this is and weather I should delete or leave it?

I found similar files on my ACER when I did a virus scan using AVAST and got error messages stating AVAST scanner could not access these files named, "C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources...". I'm using Windows XP, not 10.

Run disk cleanup with "Clean up system files" and it should get rid of all this.

Those folders are from the Windows 10 upgrade, do as describe above but beware that imho performing this cleaning process will also remove the ability to step back to you prior OS version.

As I said in this post; disk clean up doesn't always clean up the directory. You won't be able to step back to your prior OS, who cares if you have a back up before upgrading !

These are your old windows file; if you uninstall them you lost the one month option to revert back to previous os.

One month option ? Read my post in the link, and it will explain why you won't care if you delete this directory !
