    1)open cmd as admin

    2)Go to C:\Users<Insert Username>\AppData\Local\Packages\ and search name of your broken app (I will search Photos app)

    3)Look at folder's name (Microsoft.Windows.Photos)

    4)Now you know your app's id. Let's go back to cmd

    5)Use this code

    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WRITE APP'S ID HERE).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

    It will be like this

    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

    6)Press Enter and wait till the command finishes its work.

    7)You don't have to reboot. Open your broken app and it will work now

    I think now its Microsoft's turn to look into this issue. I'm also tired of fixing the apps myself! :(

    There is some problem with permission.

    When I run this command to register apps:
    Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml"}
    everything is okey, but WindowsStore hasn't been registred.

    When I run this command :
    Get-AppXPackage -allusers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml"}

    powershell is trying register Microsoft.WindowsStore but printing exception:

    Same my Windows activation seems dead as i have no access to the store :s

    Replace username with your user. This should work 100% of the time. Browse there manually in file explorer. At the top click view and make sure "show hidden files" is ticked.

    I was having the same problem all day today and been spending most of the afternoon trying to find a solution. My store would open, but was unable to download or update anything. The problem I had was I disabled the windows firewall in services and when I turned it back on to automatic it fixed the issue. I only disabled it because I run Norton and didn't think it would do any harm. Guess I was wrong.

    But I started with a clean install. I really have no idea why it doesn't work.
    Do you have genuine Win10 or something else?
    That's the only thing that comes to my mind.

    At this point I hope Microsoft will release a proper fix and acknowledge the issue.

    I had the issue for several days. Everything seems to be working well now, and I've had no updates to the store.

    Honestly, it depends on what time of day I access the store. I think with the new Windows 10 rolling out that the store may have just been overwhelmed, and the app didn't know how to respond. The store, first thing, wants to update all the apps that were pre-installed with Windows 10, and until it was able to complete that mission the store was unusable for me. Now it works fine.

    The crashing issue does need to be resolved. The store should issue a warning that it's not able to get a reliable connection if that is the issue.

    Wait, did you have completely the same issue?
    I click the store tile, a window oppens in which is the store logo on a blue background, and then 2-3 seconds later, the app crashes without loading anything.
    If so, and it fixed itself, then cool, though I'm not so sure things work that way.

    Thanks for the post anyways!
