What happened to my OneDrive files

Since upgrading to Windows 10, what happened to my OneDrive files? They have seem to drop off the face of the earth. How can I recover my files?

In Windows 10, File Explorer only shows OneDrive files that are synced to your local PC. Windows 8.1 showed a placeholder. Problem was, the placeholders took up a lot of space on small devices, and a lot of folks didn't realize that the files were not actually on their PCs (and not available offline). If you go to OneDrive in your browser, the files should be there.
