Since loading Windows 10 about two weeks ago, why are all of my Excel and Word files Read Only?

Windows Central Question

Since loading Windows 10 about two weeks ago all my Excel and Word files are Read Only.

I was running Windows 7 with Office 2013 on my laptop. Most documents were saved to Google Drive but I also had some on the hard drive. I've tried Save As a different file name but it won't let me do that; it won't even let me delete files from Google Drive or the hard drive.
This morning I tried to go back to W7 but it told me the files required to do that had been removed! Not by me they weren't.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated although not necessarily fully understood.
