Unable to play video or DVD's in Windows 10

Just downloaded the new "free" Windows 10 and found that I cannot play videos or DVD's. Had Windows 8.1 previously and was able to find a fix but no luck so far. I don't want to spend $99.99 on Windows Pro which is what Microsoft says is what I need to do.

Re: Unable to play video or DVD's in Windows 10

No one at the actual Microsoft should be telling you that you need the pro to play DVDs.

There is a program by the Videolan group called VLC, which is an excellent video player. It will play the videos and DVDs that you want to play.

It is a desktop program. I'm not sure if the Windows 10 Store version of VLC is playing DVD yet or not, but it is on the list of what they were working on.

Just do a quick search for "VLC by Videolan" and you'll find it. There are also numerous other free options available using a quick web search.
