format windows 10

Hi everybody.,

I upgraded my windows 8.1 laptop to windows 10.
it was licensed with windows 8.1 pro, so I got windows 10 pro,
now I want to format the laptop and make a clean installing with windows 10 pro,
will I still have the license after formatting?
how can I format without losing the license??

If your laptop did come with windows 8.1 pro installed then your license key may be embedded in to bios with which windows 10 activates itself.

Second you can try resetting your pc from settings in update section to make it a fresh factory install in your system.My dell didn't ask for any product key after every reset hope it would be the same with you.

but when I try to refresh the windows I got an error so i wanted to format it.,
hope the license is there, I have Asus laptop came with windows 8.1 home but I updated the license to windows 8.1 pro before going with windows 10

Then try resetting your device by selecting restart now in advanced startup located in settings>update &security>recovery.
