I have the latest Windows 10 for mobile and I recently noticed that there is an option to add phonetic spelling of first and last names in Contacts.

I want to ask the following :

    1. How is that feature used? I mean how do I write someone's name phonetically?

    2. I guess this is for Cortana. Does that mean I have to phonrtically write those names in English? (I use my phone in Greek, Cortana is not available, but I could enable her...)

    3. Besides Cortana, will phonetically written names be used anywhere else?

I was actually browsing the MSDN documentation yesterday and came across the concept of phonetic names in the context of tiles, I'm assuming the same applies for contacts: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...neticname.aspx

In certain character-based languages such as Japanese, the sort order in the UI is based on a phonetic spelling of the characters that make up the display name.
