I would love to see for once a T9 text input keyboard, like those old feature phones...It was fast and easy for me (You may not agree with me here), Or they could even allow third party keyboards...So, someone could make one for the phone.
HECK, Even apple ha allowed this now on their iPhones. It's my 4th windows phone 8+ device missing this feature entirely, even voted for this in their suggestion box a couple of times.
I know you could get the Chinese keyboard layout and switch it to do T9 like text, So...Why not an official one ??
Some people are moving up from feature phones specially former Nokia users...And, Whole I have moved up from Android, It was fairly easy to get a 3rd party keyboard to the job just fine...
AGAIN: It all depends on your preference!!

if such a keyboard is a dealbreaker then there's nothing we can do. :/

You can see if anything's on iOS, but I'm not confident you'll find it there despite custom keyboards.

I don't want a T9, but something like SwiftKey would be perfect. You can press and holorfor numbers like on W10, but swiftkey actually shows you what's there
