Why is windows 10 in control of where my photos go and not me

I hate Windows 10, I want to import my photos as I used to on Windows 7, I can't get anything to work now

It is possible to put the photos where you want them in Windows 10, and it is easy enough.

Instead of using an app to "sync" your photos, open up the File Explorer. Plug your phone into the USB port, and you can then open up the phone to explore the contents of the phone. Simply copy the photos you want over to your computer using the file explorer, and you can put them anywhere you like.

This is the way I do it, because I like to use sub-folders to keep my photos organized. It's much easier this way for me.
