    The next big update for Windows 10, which is internally called by Microsoft Redstone, will bring significant changes to Cortana and the desktop, with a new report claiming that the company is working on widget-like functionality for store apps.

    Well they do have some Widget functionality now in that they can be set as live tiles. The gadgets which are MS's name for Widgets of Windows 7 could get live feeds for thing like temperature and current weather conditions.

    Right desktop apps using w32 can use widgets for temp or what not. This will allow store apps to do it via its own api. Possibly have coupler features too. It would be nice to add to lock screen as well for both mobile and desktop.

    I think the widgets will be in the action center. I guess similar to ios.
