Outlook Categories

If I have all my categories in Microsoft Outlook 10, about 4200 of them, and I rely on the categories field to keep some order in what I'm looking at. When I decided to upload them into Outlook online, the categories disappeared from the individual contacts. Is that possible that Microsoft left that out but Google put it in? I was really thinking about getting a Microsoft phone until then even with all the app issues. Once I saw that the contacts field was gone in the mobile OS that left me no reason whatsoever to even consider Microsoft. Did I do something or do you have the categories field in your phone contacts and if so why didn't they appear on outlook.com.
