I reset my 822 a long time ago as I was going to sell it but never did. I puled it out to give to my daughter. I turned it on and had to go through the setup routine. There is no SIM card in the phone. Once it was set up I went to update to grab 8.1. It is showing WM10 .29 version. I'm downloading it now. Anyone know why this phone is getting WM10? NO insider...nothing installed. It is a clean install of 8. I never logged into my account.

I don't believe it has ever been on insider but it may have been at one time. It was a clean install and I have not created an account or signed into mine on it yet.

Hmmm. I'd have guessed you'd be given a choice to update to a "production" build of W10M. And if it is a production build, it'd be later than .29. But who knows? Interesting. Keep us posted.

While installing WM10 I got a "sad face" on my phone and it started rebooting, installing, sad face, rebooting. I had to use device recovery. I'm back to 8.1 now. It is installing critical updates but not WM10. I'm not sure what was going on there. If I had been on "insiders" but reset the phone, I don't think it would install WM10...and if it did would it not install .63 instead of .29.

A factory reset does not roll back the operating system. If the phone was on an Insider build and you reset it, it is still on that build.
