Lumia 950 XL: Old sms messages showing up

Hello: any one else experiencing this? Once in a while sms messages from like 2-3 years ago show up. this normally happens if an sms arrives when i am in a different app and then check the notification from within there. Once i hit my back arrow to go all the way out, there they are: old sms messages from people now on my karma list, LOL!

not sure if this is device related, windows related or carrier related? Did not happen when i switched to the nexus couple months ago. New to the windows phone.

Any advice on how i can get rid of this? TIA

settings --> system --> messaging --> sync messages between devices

It's been on since day1, no dice

Btw its only these 3 mesages from 2012 that keep showing up. Nothing else that is old shows up..very odd

if you sure you don't need the old messages anymore, you can enable sync messages between devices, download all old messages, then delete them all..

that is what i was saying, the sync has been on since day 1, i dont see anything different happening. those 3 messages coming back like a haunted house. i have deleted them umpteen times! i dont get this!! every time those 3!!
