Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

Been running my 1020 on Insider since forever, so whether it's released "officially" or not makes little difference.

I expect it will get released officially at some point, they get an initial group out the door and then start optimizing for the ones that got left behind, repeat until done.

Point being, there's no reason to wait on official if you want Windows 10, unless you're just afraid of the Windows Insider app for some reason.

After obtained build 102586.164 you can exit the leave the insider rings and uninstall the app if you are afraid... And better then remain on 8.1 Denim I guess, except for small things like bing vision. Of course a device reset is almost mandatory.

The 1320 has an S4 chip not SD400, same fate at the other x20 devices. ..

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

Just to know if I understand correctly:
The listed phones in the blog article receive official W10M today, and will get redstone insider updates and after release official redstone updates. All phones which are not on the list will stay officially on W8.1 and if they use the insider preview, they get W10M with build 102586.164 and updates for this build (102586.XXX) until redstone is released.

Is this correct?
If so, could it be possible to get somehow unofficial redstone builds for this phone?

It's already hard for a developer to take Windows Mobile seriously. Now with very few models upgrading officially, how is the app situation supposed to improve? The 520 alone accounts for more than 10% of all windows phones.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

Let me elaborate:

They're saying that performance was not on par with the other models (which I also find kind of hard to believe, a 430 performs better than a 925?) and thus they don't want to push it onto the regular users as an update; and I get that. However they could have certainly kept it as an option to at least allow a subset of the x2x devices to opt-in to Insider builds, on a no-guarantees basis.

They will have to cut the support some day, of course, and I understand that. However it certainly didn't have to be literally the minute after W10M ships.

What I understand is those devices not listed won't be getting W10 officially and won't go beyond 102586 through the Insider Program.

I feel really heart broken seriously. My 920 has very good specs than some of the devices listed for the upgrade. Not to mention that it's doing well on build .164 at the moment.

Yeah. That performance excuse they are selling is really hard to believe.

Let's do this thing.

We should provide as much as possible positive feedback in de windows feedback app they might reconsider if we play it right!
For me it does run smooth and great also with the lumia camera app on my 1020 i'm fine. i don;t feel the need for continuum or usb on the go but i would at least like to have the option to help with other parts of the software.

I'm mad because of utterly false argumentation. If performance issues are reason for such short list of supported devices, first phone which should not be on this list is Lumia 950! From day one it didn't work well running windows 10. I really doubt that MS got positive feedback from 950 users.

Yeah. That performance excuse they are selling is really hard to believe.

I have had no real issues with my 920 but a lot of people were complaining. Perhaps their expectations were too high, who knows, but this is the result.
