Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

Look at some of the Android phones
some are still getting released now with 4.4
never to be updated let alone 3 year old phones
window phones.
but on an android 4.4 device u can use latest Microsoft services and apps...you cant do this today on a windows phone 8.1 device....the missing update on windows is far more a problem than on android

Except that, most new Android apps are built to work on older devices even earlier than 4.4.
Not so with Windows phones, where you'll be stuck only with the apps built for W8.1
Many well known apps support Android 4.0 and iOS 7, so users of iPhone 4 or never updated Samsung Galaxy SIII still have the exact same apps as those using iPhone 6s or Samsung Galaxy S7.

I thought the same thing...I own a 925 with the Insider Preview and it runs fine, except for the bugs. You'd think with more work and updates it could be made to run just as well, if not better, than WP8.1.

This smacks of getting us to buy newer phones. Understandable in a way (the 925 was released nearly 3 years ago), but quite frankly unless the HP Elite X3 turns out to be a miraculous bargain then the Samsung S7 is beckoning :S

Not a good move from Microsoft...
I love my L1020, but I need also a customer wise support. They should care about the majority of their little market share..

If you read articles it was a decision made by the feedback of ALL windows insiders, they weighed the odds.

So my L920 is confirmed as EOL (over at Neowin. I can't post links here yet).
To be fair, MS made a fair call. The W10M performance on L920 has improved but it's not ready for public release. Loading screen and crashes still occur even after a hard reset.
I guess it's time for an Android phone to utilise those much wanted medical apps. Buying a new WP, hoping those apps will be ported to WM at some point, just doesn't make any sense.

= End of life.
Well, it's just a quip but for all intents and purposes, the phone is really just that. No more life left in it.

My 1020 runs perfectly on Win 10 .164, they only thing that it lacks is recording in stereo, other than that, it's brilliant.
I'm VERY annoyed there may be no further support. 1020 was a real star, still is

Very melodramatic. Does the device still turn on? Can you text on it? Can you email on it? Can you browse on it? Can you call on it? A non update of an OS doesn't mean it will suddenly stop working. End of life means just that. Non replaceable Battery gone, screen gone, broken, bits falling off or hardware failing etc. Non of which is as a result of non updates.

The way some are going on, they'll need therapy! It's not the end of the world, there are far more important things to think about

It did not "ran out". It was manufactured by delaying the OS.

Windows 10 was supposed to roll out to older devices in December initially...in December the 920 was already over 3 years old. The delayed OS had nothing to do with the support for the 920 running out

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

Was hoping for more favorable results and can honestly say the news wasn't too much of a surprise to me, amazed my L830 is even on that list considering it is getting up there in age (19ish mon) albeit getting the actual upgrade/update could still be months away, not overly confident either that the results will be favorable when it does arrive since any build I've tried before basically sucked on it... A trait of WM, inconsistencies on same/similar devices that has been proven time and time again.

Good chance my Ativ S, L1020, along with my L830, will spend the rest of this year, and their life, running W8.1 and after that I’ll be moving on “fully” to Android, right now I use my L830 for work yet app updates seem to have slowed down to a trickle even though there’s much room for improvement with those I use, can deal with no OS updates but apps, that just tells me interest by Dev’s has dwindled with little intent on supporting that which runs on the older OS.

Can't help think of my stint with BlackBerry and when they decided to move onto BB10, turned into a fiasco of sorts and they are still feeling the ill effects, don’t see too many things different w/W10M as to how it played out, delays and it alienated many, I predict a long road ahead for the WM platform now.

GIVE US AT LEAST GDR2! There was a suggestion page; may we can start something there? Or maybe someone can ask Gabe Aul via Twitter? I dont have twitter. GDR2 would be compromis

Yeah that'd be sweet? Wasn't something mentioned that most weren?t getting GDR2 because of the advent of W10M so sit tight LOL???

No doubt why they don't fix the freezing issue on 1320 since build 10581. They already have given up long time before!

Why don't you go on....and show instances of actual hacks that don't involve sideloading or third party app stores. I hope you don't use windows, because I could link far more uncovered vulnerabilities.

Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

What really amazes me is when people say they gonna switch platform because MS won't upgrade their phone to Win10. If you want Win10 so bad on your phone why don't you buy a new phone with Win10 instead of a new android phone or iphone?

you dont get the point do you. With other platforms there are always options and no waiting periods. Two years and microsoft gives us this. What about all the issues i ran into while using insider program and they consider our feedbacks not worthy? It has to be related to layoffs. They laid of lot of employees, now most of the phone portfolio and now they are kinda laying off their fanbase too. Welcome to windows mobile one of the most efficient mobile platforms, well as long as your phone has 1GB and quad core and as an additional bonus we have excluded M8 and Icon so other left out users would have company enjoy your stay till the ship sinks or microsoft lays off its phone division.

For the complainers out there ask yourself how many 3 year old Android handsets will be be getting Android N?

My wife has a Galaxy Note 3 and her phone has only just got Android 5.1.

How many 3 year old phones that were provided with developer preview were not updated to their official versions??
