Re: Lumia 520, 720, 920, 1020, 1320 Owners

I'm staring "senior citizenship" right in its face.

Yea, I can hold a new Walmart Lumia 640 in my hands, loaded with 10586.164 loaded on it, and simply marvel at what we can accomplish with $40 bucks. I can walk an "W10M unaware" coworker or friend\family through it and they are shocked. But not nearly as shocked as when I tell them they can have it. "No really, here, take it. I have more. Consider it a gift" (I often point out they don't have to even put their SIM in it if they can't emotionally part with their current Galaxy-this or IPhone-that)

You give them the phone for free???

Microsoft used the 20 series owners to take advantage of a free testers . But the promise to upgrade their phones to 10 violated . Liar .
Especially when we insiders knew that those Qcom S4/1GM RAM devices are running OK in 10.

It's not we are asking for further support, I just want to make sure my device won't become a sad feature phone when UWP taking over the market place.

They had already done that twice (WM6->WP7/WP7.5->WP8) and they made their word but now they are not honor their promise.....

Comparing with other platform is not fair when they have a much stable OS that iOS7(2013)/Android 4.4(2013) can support most of the apps while UWP are making a clear cut, the situation is just different.

People said you can use insider to stay on 10 but they won't keep the insider door open forever and the save boat (rom iamge) of our old devices are all in wp8/8.1 so once they closed the door and something wrong with our phone that we might have to rollback....we are on our own....:(

I don't think that's accurate. I don't think they are "closing the door" at all. You will still be able to get the insider preview on the older phones, just not the newest release of Windows 10. Once they stop servicing the older phones, they will only be able to update to that last release that was compatible.

I just don't believe that MSFT will keep say 10586.122 on their insider server six months later, serving old phones to be updated <- That's the "closing the door" I mean.

I think they will, just as they will keep 8.1 around and 7.8 around for the customers that still use those phones. I still don't think they will close the door.
