configuring restore settings

i run win 10 on tosh laptop with 500gb hd. what should i set for the max disk space usage for restore points

I think that is usually automatic

I reserve 10% of my drive, but it's really totally up to you. Remember that System Restore is not a backup system (it only watches key system/registry files, so it doesn't backup your pictures/documents/videos/files). Also remember that although you give it more space, older restore points aren't always reliable because of how many changes happened since that snapshot was taken, typically only the latest few restore points are really viable for use, but it differs depending on how many changes were made to the system.

To set how much space is taken, go here:
  1. Right Click Start
  2. Choose System
  3. Choose System Protection (left side)
  4. Choose your system drive in the list, then click Configure
  5. Drag the slider to choose how much space is set aside for system restore
