hi, this is urgent because the Windows 10 Free Upgrade is ending today.

my upgrade from Win8.1 Pro to Win10 Pro was successful.

i've checked a few apps and other things in Win10 Pro and everything seems fine.

the last thing i want to check is this:

how can i make sure my Windows 10 PC has successfully gone through "Windows Activation"?

    thanks for any help.

Right click on start button and click system. There you should be able to check.

    Settings> updates and security> activation.

You should see digital entitlement activation.

Actually the offer doesn't end until July 29 is over.

    thanks.

i just checked under "Settings>Activation" and it says this:
    "Edition: Windows 10 Pro"
    "Activation: Windows is activated"
"Product Key: Windows 10 on this device is activated with a digital entitlement"

i upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 and i'm sure that under "Product Key" it listed an actual product key with 15 or so numbers and letters... is this correct?

i'm really worried that i'll have a problem with activation 12 months from now or something and my PC will stop working...

The digital entitlement is stored at Microsoft and matched with your computer hardware (mostly the motherboard but a few other things too) at every activation. As long as the hardware doesn't change, that machine will activate from now on.

If you have to replace a motherboard, you'll have to call a 1-800 number (or the like) and explain your situation to a service rep, along with most other types of activation issues.
