Re: What router settings should I change to fix the "Slow Windows Apps download speed" issue?

few weeks ago, I reported about a very slow apps update downloading speed ( https://forums.windowscentral.com/w...s-app-takes-about-hour-download-new-post.html ), turns out to be a router issue (tried my friend's router works like charm)!

Tried resetting the router with no luck :(

Please help, thank you :)

So you swapped out your router with your friends and everything was fine? Was it identical to the one with the issues? What model router are you using?

Not sure about your older post, but make sure the firmware is up to date. Also if you are using wifi or wired would be good to know.

Different router in different country actually , Yes everything was perfect, apps downloaded/updated as fast as expected!!
My router firmware is up to date, on every website or service the speed is very good, but anything that has to do with MS no :( (apps + WU), I tried both wireless and wired.

I started to believe it's a country thing (Jordan), as using cellular connection through different carrier doesn't help either...

NOTE: I've tried DNS jumper with no help...

Maybe the country ISP limits access to Microsoft servers in the US. I am not sure, it could be a blacklisting. Try to ping one of the Update server addresses below. Take off the preceeding http://*. as needed. EX below

ping -a download.windowsupdate.com

Turns out to be a country thing, as soon as I turned VPN on (Hotspot) all updates got installed as expected!

Thank you for your help :)
