Overheating of Dell laptop when shutdown

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, 4gb RAM and 500GB HDD. I recently shifted from a non activated version of Windows 10 home basic to an activated version of Windows 10 Pro (Not Original). Whenever I shutdown my laptop, leave it, I check on it after a few hours, the left hand side of the laptop is damn hot! I switch it on, and after some 30mins I switch it off then it's alright. I just paid like $10 to a person to change my software, I don't wanna put in much dough. Also, I do use Photoshop, Premier Pro, After Effects and FL studio applications on my Laptop computer.
