    I’m running Windows 10 Home on a laptop I keep for Windows only programs. I mainly work on Mac, so just finding out that this is a thing.

    I have an important process running in the background that’s been going for multiple days already and won’t be finished for several more. Windows is trying to force me to restart. Delayed as long as I can, but now it won’t let me reschedule. If it restarts I will lose several days of progress on this and need to start over.

    I’ve seen the fixes with changing the registry, but assuming that requires a restart to take effect. Tried messing with Task Scheduler as some suggested, but it won’t allow me to change the settings for the Reboot function.

    For now, I’m just messing with date and time to always keep the clock set to within active hours, but there’s not an easier way, is there?

    (Forgive my vent: Why is this a thing? Totally understand the importance of keeping the OS updated for security, but this is the most aggravating way of implementing it. Really frustrating. I guess I should have planned around this when I started this process, but why would anyone expect to not be able to tell their computer to not restart?)

    Windows 10 Home doesnot have the advanced tools you'd fine on 10 Pro to give you greator control.

    The only thing I can suggest is to dig through the master control panel, to create the short cut:

    1. Right-click on the Windows 10 desktop and choose New > Folder
    2. Name the folder: {enter any folder name here}.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} and hit enter/return, for example Master Control Panel.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
