I had low expectations for the new Cortana standalone windows 10 app that debuted as part of the latest Windows 10 Feature Update (v2004)...but WOW. It looks like a proof of concept written by a summer student...no offense to summer students. Those developers must be hanging their heads in shame. I suppose they had to release "standalone Cortana" (regardless of what state she was in) in order to coincide with with the removal of "integrated Cortana" from Windows 10 v2004.
I remember being impressed with the first Alpha version of Cortana on Windows Phone 8.1. How they went from that to this is beyond me.
If microsoft's goal is to completely ruin and then retire Cortana, then this is a good first step.
