I've had this computer for over two years. I have always struggled with the Windows Key. I bought it at a legitimate store in my country. Is it possible that Windows isn't legitimate on my computer if I can't find any trace of the key? What do you think?

    Hi JohnS111,

Easiest way to assist would to point you to a quick video that shows how to check and see if your Windows Key is legitimate (activated). There are a few easy ways to see if your key is activated and legitimate as the video will show you.

Also, if you are looking to view your Windows Key, this page will give you several options to see either the original key in the bios, or subsequent keys if Windows was updated later.

Hi, Type "Command Prompt" in windows search and run as Administrator. Just type in there "slmgr.vbs /dli" hit enter and wait about 10 seconds a windows popup with the actual status of your windows license.

Secondly you can also check by type in "slmgr /xpr" in command prompt.

Thirdly type "run" in windows search box and hit enter then type "winver". A popup windows can also reveals the status of windows.
