How do I have the virtual keyboard launch automatically while in desktop mode when I click on a field that requires text. I have to keep clicking the keyboard in the task tray. It should show up automatically right? Any help would be appreciated.

I feel your pain goku. This would be useful in a HTPC configuration. The logitech t650 trackpad is actually amazing* for couch surfing (internet from couch rather than sleeping on friends couches) *note: it needs a hardback book beneath it.

But the downside is typing a username or web address. In fact it seems impossible to manually bring up the on screen keyboard AND use the search charm. Which is a major downside as W8 is a pleasure to use on a tv.

+1 from my side, I also have Windows 8 on HTPC (which works great) and I suffer great pain because I can't call the virtual keyboard when I need to type something, I need to get off the couch and pick up the hardware keyboard. Really a pity.
