Sound goes soft

Randomly I will be playing a game, watching YouTube or any other video program/Modern app my volume will cut in half. Now I thought this was a Windows 8 bug with my drivers but when ever I "minimize" Xbox Music it does it right then and there. I focus my screen back on Xbox Music, my volume returns to normal. Anyone else have this issue?

Side note, my MS Arc Keyboard's mute button no longer works.

It seems to have been Skype. Problem solved.

Yeah if you have Skype running and you minimise Xbox music, it automatically assumes that the sound from Skype is the sound you'd prefer to hear. Bit silly really as that's not always the case. Even more annoying is that when you minimise IE10 app it assumes you don't want to listen to youtube anymore... (wouldn't be such a problem except there isn't an official youtube app and so any youtube link I click on takes me to IE10. Wish they had built in a volume manager of some sort for the modern apps.
