Help me figure out this calendar thing

When I add an event to the calendar on my Lumia 822, it syncs and shows just fine on the calendar on my Windows 8 desktop. However, if I initiate the process from the desktop it won't sync or show on the Lumia's calendar. What am I doing wrong?

When you add an event to the Win8 app calendar, on the details page, you have a selection of which calendar to put the event on. The default is the app calendar. Select the phone calendar from the dropdown. You will still see the event on the app calendar.
In settings on the app calendar you can select what calendars to view and their colors in the Win8 app.
