Im getting rid of my laptop with windows 8 most likely this week and was wondering is there anyway to backup/save the list of apps i downloaded to my microsoft account so that when i get my new tablet and i log in all i have to do is log in and it automatically downloads the new apps? Any way to clear all apps ive downloaded from the laptop after that? The laptop has windows 8 on it not 8.1 didnt bother to upgrade it since i was getting rid of it the new tablet i get will have 8.1 on it

Go into your user settings on the start screen and make sure you have a Microsoft account hooked up and not a local account :) setting and apps will save to SkyDrive

The applications are tied to your account, so yes you can download them all again, in fact your Start screen will be similar. No, you cannot clear your purchase history, paid or free.

Instructions are pretty close to the same for 8 and 8.1

How to restore, refresh, or reset your PC - Microsoft Windows Help

    • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
    • Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.
    • Under Remove everything and reinstall Windows, tap or click Get started.
    • Follow the instructions on the screen.

    Thanks guys appreciate the help

If I refresh do I have to reenter my serial numbers and all that or its similar to a system restore and I can use it and go without having to do anything major needing to be done what exactly is the refresh doing differently from the restore?
