I lost my phone and just got a replacement phone. Before I could go to wifi in settings and simply choose a network and put in the password. On this phone it uses "map data sense" - it shows me a map with dozens of wifi spots but they are not labelled with network names. I have a network right here in the building I'm in that I can connect to but I have no idea which one it is (I'm in the middle of a big city and there is wifi everywhere). I can't update my phone apparently unless I'm connected to wifi.

Turn off wifi, then enter the Wifi Sense settings and turn them off, reenable wifi and you should be able to select from a list of detected wifi networks.
