How would you like the idea of open sourcing the Internet Explorer's/Spartan's engines, EdgeHTML and Chakra?
Think of the opportunities Microsoft had:
    - improving their brand image
    - getting support for a lot of persons without having to pay them a cent!
    - receive love from the web dev community
    - ...

The only negative aspects I see are of a security nature, especially as WinRT apps coded in HTML/JavaScript are rendered using the engines mentioned above. Hackers could easily identify security threats.
But I think even that problem could be solved: Win10 (and with it Spartan and EdgeHTML) are still in a Preview phase, so major security problems could be ironed out until RTM in Summer.

    What do you think?
Seeing more negative aspects? Or positive ones?
