how can I get normal language instead of squares in different apps like skype or ynews?

I can't read squares!!! is what I get while linking to different apps.!

The squares are actually known as Tiles in the Windows 8+ subsystem. They are special Icons which extend notification functionality, more like user-UN-actionable widgets.

I think OP is talking about how when a computer runs into a language or emoji it just can't handle it displays a box.

Like how pre-iOS 9.1 phones would display a box instead of say, the new middle finger emoji
