Why do I need a Music Pass to play my music in Groove?

I uploaded all my music (legally acquired/self-ripped!) to OneDrive, but now that I want to play it from the groove app on Android, the app tells me that for some tracks I need a Music Pass.

I don't understand: why do I need a music pass for some files, and not for others? And why do I need a music pass for music I legally acquired anyway?

PS damn guys, what happened to the UI on WC? There is no clear button/way to find a way to log in, and there's no clear whay to get an overview of the forum boards... Frustrated, I first posted this question as a Q&A. Then, desperately, I clicked the "Create an account" button, which then simply logged me in (I already had an account).
