Groove trial error

I've never used Microsoft services on WP before, so I'm at a loss as to what to do about the situation I've just encountered.

I went to start the Groove 30 day trial but an error message appeared that said something like "Xboxserviceserror Wait a while" or similar wording.

I waited a few mins and tried again, but the same message came up.

I then logged out and back into the store. It didn't seem to help as the music store was still only showing purchasing prices and no option to play.

Then my email account synced and 2 mails came through. One said confirmation of purchase for the pass, the other said confirmation of pass cancellation. I've been back on the store and followed the "try for free" link but I only get the option to purchase a pass, no free trial. Instead there's a message saying I've already used the trial.

Any ideas what I can do, what went wrong, or if I'm ever likely to see the 30 free days?
