Hey everyone my contract can be renewed tomorrow for t-mobile. I looked online and saw that they have a special web offer for the HD7 for a 2 year renewal for .99! I'm kind of been wanting to try windows phone and I currently have a basic phone right now. Should I upgrade to that or should I wait for a the 2nd gen of windows phones? Or I could always buy an unlocked samsung focus? Suggestions? Opinions?

Front facing camera and gyroscope will be the two features that are really lacking. You will also miss out on the newer GPU's and Processors. I would wait until November if you can, or find the HD7 or Dell Venue Pro for cheap on Craigslist until newer phones come out.


7.5 runs great and makes the HD7 much better and it was already awesome but I would still wait. The Titan is a much more powerful device if it comes out and you will be kicking yourself if they announce it a few days after you get the HD7.

ok at this point, you have a number of options, the HD7 is a great device I own one and I've been running Mango for the past month and a half already, it's great. I myself would wait for the next gen devices to come out as they're all slated to come out around october, which is right around the corner anyways. If it's the screen that compels you toward the HD7 then wait for the Titan or the Focus S on AT&T, the only second gen WP7 device coming out for T-Mobile is the Radar which is nice I especially like the white color. The screen size however is a deal breaker for my personal tastes, I only like screens ranging from 4.0"-4.3" whereas the Radar is only 3.8". I don't feel like switching to AT&T solely for the Focus S though. I'm actually waiting to see what Nokia comes out with. I'm really really hoping they hit the U.S. market with the large screen trend that's been going on and release a 4 or 4.3 in. device. I'm not worried all too much about the carrier for the device as Nokia loves to make pentaband devices which will run on both AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA networks. Hope that was sufficient info, if not don't hesitate to ask!!

I would definitely not sign a 2-year contract for a phone that's already a year old.

My suggestion, get a Dell Venue Pro. They're $299 here Venue Pro Smartphone with Windows Phone
Otherwise, a used HD7 or Venue Pro can be bought on ebay for a reasonable price.

You can always sell it again, and you can save your upgrade for something more cutting-edge in the future.

I would also suggest to wait. My HD7 has been great, but with the newer devices right around the corner, you would be kicking yourself for not being patient. I'm with Luis, excited to see what Nokia is gonna bring (and hopefully its rockin a 4-4.3" screen).

The only thing I do agree with is to possibly buy the HD7 used just in case there are other T-Mo phones coming out besides the radar. I wouldn't recommend the DVP (heard it had a LOT of issues)

But WP7 is optimized for this phone so higher specs doesn't really mean anything unless you are a true tech head that really needs your phone to perform seconds faster.

As far as how Mango runs, I agree with the above statement that it runs great. Difference on opinions about getting the Titan but in the end it's really about your preference, but the upgraded specs aren't really doing anything to better your WP7 experience (except for adding video calling).
